The Junior League of Las Vegas – Bear Project No child should go without the wonder and magic of receiving gifts on Christmas morning. That has been the driving belief behind the longest running project. Created in 1987, giving JLLV members the chance to play Santa to hundreds of underprivileged children during the holiday.
We select three at-risk schools to partner with through CCSD and “adopt” around 250 kids. We personally interview and measure the children to get their correct sizes, favorite color and holiday wishes. We then purchase 10 items: shirt, pant, socks, underwear, coat, pajamas, two toys and a book for each child. The wrapped gifts are delivered to the parents so they can have a beautiful holiday for their children. We also provide the families with grocery gift cards for a holiday meal.
You can make a donation on the website www.jllv.org – go to Support Us and on the down menu select Bear Program. Every donation counts regardless of the amount!
